Book Clubs

Mason City Public Library Book Club for Adults

The MCPL Book Club for Adults is for adults 18 years and up.  The MCPL Book Club for Adults meets the 2nd Thursday of the month from September to May.  Titles are chosen by the group in the fall for the year, and members volunteer to lead the group discussion each month.  Participation is limited; registration is currently open only for the 6:30PM book club at this time.  Patrons wishing to participate in the book club can contact Teresa or Jody at 641.421.3668 for more information.

Community Book Clubs

We help book clubs in the community by getting multiple copies of the book that your members are reading.  The Circulation Desk staff will gladly request multiple copies of titles that your book club members are reading in advance of your meetings.  Circulation staff work with a contact person from your group to obtain books through a state-wide book list maintained by libraries that purchase multiple copies to lend out to community book clubs.  If titles are unavailable through the State Book List, we would request them individually through interlibrary loan at a handling charge of $3.00 per book.  Contact Jody at 641.421.3668 for more information.

Silent Book Group

Twice a month, feel free to drop in and read with us.  We meet the first Monday of each month at 2PM in our Denison Room, and the third Thursday of each month at 6PM also in our Denison Room.  Bring your own book and settle in our comfy Denison Room and enjoy a quiet, uninterrupted hour of reading.  (We bet you can't accomplish this at home!)  When the hour is up, we'll share titles and thoughts about our books.
