Sunshine Storytime · June 4, June 11, June 18, July 2, and July 9 @ 10am 

Join us on the MCPL lawn for stories, songs, movement, early literacy tips, bubbles, and tons of fun! Make sure to bring a blanket to sit on, sunscreen, bug spray, and a snack! Appropriate for ages 5 and under. Storytime will be canceled if there is inclement weather. Please note there is no storytime on June 25!

Family Recess · June 6 @ 2-6pm 

Let's Play! Drop by the MCPL lawn for a fun recess for the whole family! Play games, make crafts, and have a ton of analog fun! Ages 11 and under. This event will be held in the Mason City Room in case of rain.

Make a LEGO Game · June 9 @ 2-6pm 

Drop in to try your hand at making a game out of LEGO! It could be anything! A board game, a marble maze, ring toss...your imagination is the limit! This event will be held in the MCPL Foundation Room and is appropriate for ages 11 and under.

Bluey Week · June 16 through June 20 

It's Bluey Week, HOORAY! Drop by the MCPL any time this week to enjoy tons of Bluey fun! Use your imagination just like Bluey, Bingo, and all their friends! Play Bluey games, drive a taxi, find your granny persona, try out the Magic Asparagus, and more! This drop-in event will be held in the MCPL Youth Services Department.

Lime Creek Animal Olympics · June 25 @ 3-6pm 

 The games are on! Stop by to see how you compare to the animal kingdom. Long jump, high jump, and more will test your skills. Compare yourself to the animals with Olympic abilities and learn just how awesome nature’s athletes are. This event is for ages 11 and under and will be held in the Mason City Room.

Family Game Day July 7 · @ 2-6pm 

Stop by with family and friends to play some of our brand new, super fun board games! This event will be held in the MCPL Foundation Room and is appropriate for ages 11 and under.

Scavenger Hunt Week · June 30 through July 3 

Stop by during open hours this week to participate in fun indoor scavenger hunts! Go to the Youth Services desk to get started. Find the items and win a cool prize! Ages 18 and under. The library will be closed July 4th and 5th.

North Iowa Farmers Market Storytime · June 14 and July 12 @ 10:30am 

Join the MCPL Crew for a fun and fast storytime at the North Iowa Farmers Market in Central Park!

Weekly Contests: 

There are three contests each week of the program for ages 11 and under. Winners will be notified each week.

Guessing Jar: Guess how many items are in the jar.

Riddle: Can you puzzle out the answer?

Find the Lost Crewmate: The Crewmate is lost in the MCPL...can you find them?

Minifigure Painting · June 3 @ 12-2pm and 3-5pm 

Tweens and Teens ages 9-18 stop by the MCPL Foundation Room to paint your own tabletop minifigure. All materials and snacks will be provided. This event will be held in the MCPL Foundation Room and is for ages 9-18 only.

Tweens, join us for a tabletop campaign! All materials and snacks provided. This event will be held in the MCPL Foundation Room and is for ages 12-18 only. .

Gaming Gone Wild (ft Lime Creek Nature Center) · June 24 @ 2-3pm 

What do Animal Crossing, Minecraft, and Fortnite have in common? They all feature wildlife, from axolotls to wolves! Explore how nature and video games connect as we compare animal characters and their real-life counterparts. Join in on the quest to learn more about nature in games! This event will be held in the MCPL Foundation Room and is for age 12-18 only.

Pick up a Reading & Activity "Book-opoly" Log at a desk and return it by July 11th to be entered into a prize drawing.

 

Events include:

June 5th - Coloring in the Commons 

Adult coloring with a twist-as you bring your page to life, hidden objects can come to life! All supplies provided!

June 12th - Game Time in the Mason City Room @ 1-3pm & 4;30-6:30pm 

We will be playing various games in our Mason City Room between 1 and 3 p.m. and 4:30 and 6:30 p.m. You may drop in anytime and play a quick word game (Bananagrams) or a board game (Clue, Scattergories). All just for fun-come alone or bring a friend! Popcorn and drink will be provided!!

June 19th - Book Chats 

Check out a book at our main desk and be a part of one of our three book clubs:

June 26th - Nature Talk with Heather from Lime Creek Nature Center at 5:30 p.m. on the library patio 

The summertime is a beautiful time to enjoy the outdoors. It has been proven that spending time outside provides mental and physical health benefits. However, it also gives you the opportunity to meet your ‘wild’ neighbors. Come discover who your animal neighbors are so you can enjoy
the benefits of nature together.
