WELCOME

MCPL's purpose is to provide comprehensive library service and to meet many of the informational and recreational needs of the community. The library offers a regular array of in house children’s programs as well as outreach to homebound residents, nursing homes and daycares.  Essential services are free to the public including Internet access.

Besides typical library services, we have the Lee P. Loomis Archive, which contains an enormous collection of photographic and primary source materials for the study of local and Iowa history. The library uses these materials with school groups as well as with individuals—always in the hope that people will become excited about learning and enthusiastic about local history. We also host an independent genealogical society, which has resources and staff trained to help patrons who wish to research family history.
